I'm here to bust the myth that its too expensive to go vegan. Living a vegan lifestyle is super affordable, convenient and overall will benefit your health, the animals and the planet majorly!

Many people use the excuse that its too expensive to go vegan. However, just like non-vegan food, you can CHOOSE to buy the "expensive" super foods or that expensive blue cheese. Overall, these more expensive super foods are not necessary to achieve a well balanced vegan diet, just like the blue cheese is not necessary to achieve a non-vegan well balanced diet.

Whole foods and fresh fruit and vegetables are what our body need and thrive on.

Everyone can benefit from getting more fruit and vegetables into your diet. When you switch to a vegan lifestyle it can inspire you too lead a healthier life, and with the inexpensive abundance of plant based foods, it's definitely a sustainable lifestyle that you can thrive on and eat in abundance on a budget.

To prove that veganism is affordable for everyone regardless of your income, take a look at what $50 can get you when your vegan vs what $50 can get you when your not vegan.

(P.s the meat photos came from my family's purchases who are not vegan...)

$50 worth of fruit and vegetables vs $50 of meat

The reality

An abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables full of protein, carbs and essential vitamins and minerals vs 5 packets of dead animal/meat .

Pick the rainbow! I don't know whats more natural then food that does not have to be hid by packaging because of its unappealing appearance, smell and nature.

Both of these grocery hauls were items that were "on special"/ inexpensive finds.

The fruit and vegetables were brought at our local fruit and vegetable market and the meat was brought at the local commercialized grocery store.

Typically other staples you might possibly buy with the vegan grocery haul include beans, plant milk and grains.

With the non vegan grocery haul you might buy other staples such as fruit and vegetables, grains, milk, eggs and cheese.

Including these other typically considered staples in these grocery hauls to have a " well balanced" diet you will find that the vegan grocery list is still much more inexpensive than the price of the animal products.

Go looking around your area and support your local farmers rather than buying your fresh produce from big brand companies and brands. You will find that you will get a lot more/ bulk produce when you buy your fresh produce from the fruit and vegetable market/store.

I hope you've gained some insight into how affordable and sustainable for your budget, the animals, your health and the planet adopting a vegan lifestyle can be.

So do your best with what you have and remember being vegan is not the most you can do, its the least you can do.

I'll leave you with some of my favourite quotes for food for thought
